--- What kind of share house is it?

We are a share house where you can live as you are, based on the premise that "people of all sexualities are welcome here!”

There may be situations where you feel a little uncomfortable because you haven't come out to your family, workplace, or school, or when the topic of conversation comes up. But in this share house, you don't have to worry. Why not live in a house where you can express yourself as naturally as you breathe?

If you want to connect with other LGBTQ+ people who are lonely because there are no LGBTQ+ people around you, if living alone is not enough for you, if it is difficult to find a place for two people, or if you want to support the LGBTQ+ community, this is the place for you! Come to Mezon-Q!

It is run by QWRC, a non-profit organization in Osaka that supports sexual minorities. If you are unfamiliar with the area or have no contact with the community, we will help you live as you are♪ The proceeds from the share house will be used to fund QWRC's activities, such as consultation activities and community building. Your living in Mezon-Q itself becomes a support for the community. We aim to create a home where people can feel safe and secure in each other's company.

Please feel free to contact us for more information or just to take a tour!

---Why did you set up this share house?

There are many challenges associated with LGBTQ+ and housing.
QWRC has decided to launch the "Share House" as one proposal to solve these issues!

LGBTQ+ and living at home
The family members of LGBTQ+ people are often not the people who are involved in the LGBTQ+ issue. Therefore, it can be difficult for them to understand the feelings and woes of the parties. Some people find it difficult to come out and talk about themselves because they are not sure if they will be understood by their families, and even if they do come out, their families may reject them, making it difficult for them to act as they are in front of their families, and some people do not feel comfortable living at home.
I want to leave my parents' house and live as myself! For those who want to leave their parents' home and live as themselves, why not try a share house where they can move in easily?

LGBTQ+ and living alone
Workplaces and schools still assume heterosexuality and gender segregation. Sometimes, people feel uncomfortable in group conversations or are subjected to prejudicial language.
Even a little love talk or fashion talk doesn't feel right with those around you, and you may have a dilemma that you can't talk about what you want to talk about... You don't have any LGBTQ+ friends around you... Living alone is a bit lacking... You want people to take you for granted in casual conversation. At times like these, it may be a good idea to have a share house companion.
It's not easy to find a lover or partner to live with within a minority community... but you're not alone! You may be able to create a network where you can feel like you're not alone!

LGBTQ+ and rural living
We often hear people say that there is no LGBTQ+ community like there is in urban areas, or that they can't behave the way they want because they are afraid of what their neighbors think in the countryside. We hope for a future where each community becomes a better place to live, but right now! I want to live a freer life and behave freely without worrying about what the locals think! We at QWRC would like to back up such people with our experience in consultation and accompanying support so that they can come out to Osaka with peace of mind!

LGBTQ+ and looking for a place to rent
LGBTQ+ couples have difficulty getting a mortgage and finding work. Many LGBTQ+ people live in rental properties rather than owning their own homes.
It is sometimes difficult for same-sex couples to move into rental properties because they are treated as a "couple".
However, for LGBTQ+ people who are estranged from their families because of their sexuality, having a guarantor for a rental contract can be a headache. Also, they may be undergoing gender transition, and their gender identity may be different from that on their certificate, or they may be worried about how they will look to the landlord or real estate agent... In addition, they sometimes feel stressed when searching for a place to live because they are worried about how they will look to landlords and real estate agents.
If you are having trouble finding a place to live because of your sexuality, don't worry! You are welcome to Mezon Q!
